Having topped the regular season of the National League Division 1, Cambridge host runners-up Manchester on Friday 24th June starting at 3.30pm.
First up the Jamie Giddins (world ranked 48) will take on Manchester young gun, Robert Shenkman (world ranked 55). Jamie won the title of most valuable player during the season and remains undefeated in national league singles for over a year. However, Robert has spent this year at Queens and Chicago and has shown rapid improvement under the tutelage of Andrew Lyons and Steve Virgona. This should be an exciting and important match, with selectors for the under 26 GB side certain to be watching.
Next up Ed Kay (world ranked 21) will take on Manchester’s pro Darren Long (world ranked 17). Darren was the only person to beat Ed throughout the season, however Ed won their most recent encounter on the Blue Court. Darren recent took the 0-9s title and is playing well in the US Pro Singles and will hope he can continue this run of form into the final.
Following this there will be a doubles.
This is a great opportunity to watch some quality tennis and your support could help the Cambridge team to victory, so please come down to the club.
