Ed Williams, Dave Isherwood (CURTC) Phil Payne & Kate Kirk (CURTC)
Cambridge got off to a flying start as Dave Isherwood & Kate Kirk swept past Ed Williams & Phil Payne losing just 1 game in each set
.

Christie Marrian & Linda Fairbrother (CURTC) v John Kirkpatrick & Eric Nutter
It looked like Christie Marrian and Linda Fairbrother would carry on the fine work as they won their first set in fine style 6-2, but seasoned hands Eric Nutter and John Fitzpatrick had other ideas as they swung the match decisively in their favour winning the next two sets 6-1, 6-3.

Ian Lindsay v Linda Fairbrother (CURTC)
Linda then came up against the in form Ian Lindsay who proved to be a little too consistent for her as he ran out 6-4, 6-2 winner.

Jonathon Becher v Howard Mason (CURTC)
Hitting the dedans with frequency was Howard Mason’s secret weapon in his first set as he chalked up fine 6-1 success. However, that accuracy deserted him thereafter as Jonathan Becher gradually took over and rattled off the next two sets 6-3, 6-3.

Robert Doe (CURTC) v Dominic Tomlinson
Power hitting was much in evidence in a highly entertaining match as Robert Doe took on Dominic Tomlin in the final singles rubber. Again a Cambridge player notched up a comfortable first set win (6-2 this time) but was pegged back by a fine recovery by Dominic (6-4). Robert held his nerve to win his inter club debut with a 6-5 final set.
Our thanks to Newmarket for a competitive, friendly and sporting day and as usual a fine lunch.
