Cambridge’s National League campaign rolls on against Queen’s at home on Guy Fawkes night. There promises to be more fireworks on court at Grange Road than anywhere else in Cambridge.
Thanks to the backing of a brilliant crowd Cambridge were able to crush Oxford in their first match in the National League Division 1 two weeks ago. Up next for the on-form team of Jamie Giddins and Ed Kay on Thursday 5th November is The Queen’s Club, who will be looking to bounce back after defeat to Manchester in round one.
First on court will be Queen’s member Jamie Giddins (11) against Charlie Braham (13), a team-mate of both Ed and Jamie in the GB U26 team. This is likely to be a very close match with Jamie and Charlie looking to lay down a statement of intent about the upcoming season.
Next up will be Ed Kay (6), who after trouncing the Oxford pro last week, will be looking to add the Queen’s pro Andrew Fowler (6) to his list of professional scalps.
Following the two singles there will be a doubles, which, with the close singles matches on paper, could be decisive. This is a must win home match for Cambridge and there is likely to be a lot of passionate tennis or display. Your support was huge in helping Cambridge get over the line against Oxford, especially for Jamie, and we would love to have that kind of support again. It will hopefully be an excellent chance to come and watch some high quality tennis and watch another big win for Cambridge.
