Kees (pronounced ‘Case’) is our Senior Professional at the club and is responsible for a very large part of our recent successes.
Originally from Sri Lanka, Kees first got hooked on the game in Melbourne, Australia – he professes to have played solidly for three weeks from the moment he first stepped on court.
Kees has recently started playing a small amount of competitive tennis again after having retired because of knee trouble. He enjoyed it so much he has started a serious attempt to bring himself back to match fitness.
He has twice made it to the second round of the British Open and won the Browning Cup and the 10-19 Handicap Category Tournament.
Kees is one of the games best coaches and is a great supporter of up and coming players, notably Alexis Hombrecher, who he coached through his time for CURTC in Division 1 of the National League.
Kees worked at Oxford University for a number of years. He then accepted the position of assistant professional to Lachlan Deuchar, the former world No.1 at The Harbour Club in 1994.
He sees himself very much as a club pro, and has guided CURTC from a 1 court club with 70 members to its current status of 2 courts and 250 members.
Kees is married to Louise (who is also an active member of the club) and has two children, Nina and Jim.
If you would like to contact Kees you can call him on 01223 357106 or email him at kees@curtc.net
